My Winter Beauty Essentials

LIFESTYLE

I’m a simple girl. How simple? I showed up to my graduation day with a bare face and curls from bantu knots. But make no mistake, beauty is the most important thing to me. I may not usually wear makeup but I like to look well put-together. Here are the products that have been keeping things interesting for me this winter:

  1. Parfum:

I like floral scents and I’m using two of them at the moment. The first is Pure Wonder Fine Fragrance Mist by Bath and Body Works. I especially like to wear it for work because it’s very light and subtle. With it’s notes of jasmine and amber, it delivers just the perfect scent for an airy morning. Later, I’ll layer Arthur Ford’s Pink #4 to instantly uplift my mood. It has heart notes of white chocolate and cupcake, a delicious hug that I need when I start feeling a little overwhelmed with work.

  2. Nails:

At the moment, I’m wearing white nails made with a Bio-Sculpture gel. They’re beautiful and pair well with the white tops that I like to wear. The downside of white nails is that they require absolute cleanliness as they stain very easily. Luckily for me, this ain’t my first rodeo. My cousin-sister did white tips on my nails many years ago and my Sotho self decided to eat curry using my hand, instantly turning my nails yellow! I will not be making that mistake again.

  3. Lipstick:

Now, this is my favorite beauty product in the whole world. Sephora’s Cream Lip Stain Liquid Lipstick is the brightest and most most comfortable shade of red lip I’ve ever worn. What I wear to work, however, is Chocolate Blend by Arthur Ford. Sadly, this lipstick has been discontinued. It is such a beautiful brown shade that compliments the color of my skin. I’m down to my last one and I’m on the search for a new nude lip.

Sephora’s red Lip

I don’t like a fuss when it comes to beauty, especially during the cold months. But I think that I’ve been handling this season really well but boy oh boy am I over it. I miss summer and I just can’t wait to see what beauty products will be in the market. Until then, remember: you’re beautiful, say it back. (You have to watch Glamorous on Netflix to get this, wink).
